Extinguishers/Fire Extinguishers
A fire extinguisher is a device used to extinguish fires. It consists of a metal container (cylinder or steel cylinder) containing a fire extinguishing agent under pressure, so that by opening a valve agent exits through a nozzle (sometimes located at the end of a hose) to be direct to the firebase. Generally they have a device to prevent accidental activated, which must be disabled before using the device.
Types
- Water extinguishers loaded with water or a foaming agent, foam AR-AFFF
- Universal powder extinguishers; ABC serves fires
- Dry chemical extinguishers (multifunction: fight fires class BC)
- CO2 extinguishers (also known as Carbonic Snow or Carbon Dioxide) are the most common and best
- Fire extinguishers for metal (only valid for combustible metals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, titanium, etc.)
- Halon extinguishers
- Instant (before explosion extinguisher)
